On pedigree polytopes and Hamiltonian cycles
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper we define a combinatorial object called a pedigree, and study the corresponding polytope, called the pedigree polytope. Pedigrees are in one-to-one correspondence with the Hamiltonian cycles on Kn. Interestingly, the pedigree polytope seems to differ from the standard tour polytope, Qn with respect to the complexity of testing whether two given vertices of the polytope are nonadjacent. A polynomial time algorithm is given for nonadjacency testing in the pedigree polytope, whereas the corresponding problem is known to be NP-complete for Qn. We also discuss some properties of the pedigree polytope and illustrate with examples. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Hamiltonian Cycles on Symmetrical Graphs
The edges of highly-connected symmetrical graphs are colored so that they form Hamiltonian cycles. As an introduction we discuss the coloring of the complete graphs K2m+1 for m>1, but the focus is on the graphs resulting from symmetrical perspective projections of the edges of the regular 4-dimensional polytopes into 3-space. The goal is to color all edges in these graphs with multiple congruen...
متن کاملOn the Graph of the Pedigree Polytope
Pedigree polytopes are extensions of the classical Symmetric Traveling Salesman Problem polytopes whose graphs (1-skeletons) contain the TSP polytope graphs as spanning subgraphs. While deciding adjacency of vertices in TSP polytopes is coNP-complete, Arthanari has given a combinatorial (polynomially decidable) characterization of adjacency in Pedigree polytopes. Based on this characterization,...
متن کاملThe Graph of the Pedigree Polytope is Asymptotically Almost Complete (Extended Abstract)
Graphs (1-skeletons) of Traveling-Salesman-related polytopes have attracted a lot of attention. Pedigree polytopes are extensions of the classical Symmetric Traveling Salesman Problem polytopes (Arthanari 2000) whose graphs contain the TSP polytope graphs as spanning subgraphs (Arthanari 2013). Unlike TSP polytopes, Pedigree polytopes are not “symmetric”, e.g., their graphs are not vertex trans...
متن کاملBifurcation of limit cycles from a quadratic reversible center with the unbounded elliptic separatrix
The paper is concerned with the bifurcation of limit cycles in general quadratic perturbations of a quadratic reversible and non-Hamiltonian system, whose period annulus is bounded by an elliptic separatrix related to a singularity at infinity in the poincar'{e} disk. Attention goes to the number of limit cycles produced by the period annulus under perturbations. By using the appropriate Picard...
